Dr. Nathan RolstonDr. Rolston is a transplanted flatlander. He grew up in a small town in northwest Iowa. Dr. Rolston attended the University of Arizona in Tucson where he received his Bachelor's degree and then returned to Iowa and received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1998. After a year of practicing in the Portland, Oregon area, the lure of fly-fishing in eastern Idaho proved too strong and he and his wife Michelle moved to Idaho Falls in 1999. They have three children, Sam, Calvin, and Caroline, and spend most of their free time running from activity to activity. At work, Dr. Rolston enjoys soft tissue surgery, dermatology, and internal medicine cases. Outside of work, you can probably find him on one of the many beautiful rivers of eastern Idaho, fly-fishing.

Dr. Kathy Shoemaker
Dr. Shoemaker is originally from Louisiana. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from McNeese State University in Mathematics and Computer Science, then went on to attend Louisiana State University for her veterinary degree. She has an interest in veterinary pharmacology and spent several years after graduating from veterinary school in the field of research in that area. Since 1987, Dr. Shoemaker has enjoyed all areas of clinical medicine for small animals. She has two grown boys and enjoys horseback riding, sewing, painting and camping.

Dr. Susie MackinDr. Susie Mackin grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Idaho Falls in 1997 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin -Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She has recently returned from a 5 year stint in Wisconsin and is happy to be back in Idaho. Dr. Mackin feels very fortunate to have a career doing what she loves and is passionate about. To her, the best part of her job is developing a relationship with her patients and their owners and working together as a team to provide the best care possible whether it be preventative care, internal medicine, dermatology or surgery. Dr. Mackin and her husband, John, along with their two children, Connor and Addie, share their home with Ellie, the best little dog, and Ellie’s three feline sidekicks; Gus, Polly and Anna. When not working, Dr. Mackin takes full advantage of all that Idaho offers; awesome mountain biking, skiing, hiking, and... basically anything outdoors!

Dr. MJ DavidDr. Mary Ellen J. David (AKA Dr. MJ or Dr. David) was born and raised on Whidbey Island in Washington State, oftentimes at her father’s veterinary hospital. Dr. MJ graduated from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience before leaving the country to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on St. Kitts, in the Caribbean. She then completed her clinical year at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, graduating 2021. After a year split between general practice in Wyoming and emergency medicine in Texas, Dr. MJ moved to the Idaho Falls area where she met her husband. They share 5 kitties: Pandora, Mishka, Taz, Lakota, and L’il Murray Sparkles. Dr. MJ’s favorite parts of vet med are internal medicine and neurology. She also has a deep appreciation for the human-companion animal bond, seeking to serve a role in nurturing those bonds by providing veterinary healthcare. Outside of work, Dr. MJ enjoys spending time with family, playing & listening to music, hiking, and skiing

Dr. Brad FrancisDr. Brad Francis was an owner and partner in Countryside Veterinary Hospital since it first opened in 1992, until he retired in July of 2021. Dr. Francis is still working as a relief veterinarian for the hospital and will continue to perform some orthopedic surgeries. Graduating from Kansas State University in 1985, he has spent his entire veterinary career in Idaho Falls. Dr. Francis' main interests include surgery, particularly orthopedic, and the challenge of internal medicine cases. He also enjoys working with organized veterinary medicine and in 2008 presided as president of the Idaho Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Francis and his wife Maureen have two children, Matt and Marla, along with Willie the dog and Roy the cat. Dr. Francis enjoys the great Idaho outdoors, camping and whitewater rafting with his family and riding the mountain trails on his mule, Tincup. |
